Looks like here is the situation:
Magicwand isn't installed.
You can use this script to install and compile your own PHP5 [1], but
you'll need to add in magickwand according to the magickwand install
instructions [2]. The earliest I can get to helping with this is July 1 as
I'm traveling till then.
The instructions look clear, but I can't be arsing around with my website
before I hop off for a few weeks.
There is a workaround if the developer is willing to do it - you can
convert the magickwand commands to calls to the individual imagemagick
executables [3]. This means you don't have to do any recompiling of php,
which some folks were unable to complete [4].
(on another note, send me any helpful japan travel tips you've got off the
discussion list, thanks!)

Looks like magickwand might not be installed on dreamhost, and it is the
api into imagemagick... I'm trying to figure out if there is a way to get
this
working on dreamhost without custom installing your own php.

Just enough to get me excited! Try it out - start by clicking upload and
it will prompt you for an image. (Had 1 hiccup as I tried it)
Tried to crop something and got an error when I clicked done: Fatal
error: Call to undefined function newmagickwand() in
/home/.serpico/slambert/add-art.org/cropper/manipulation.php on line 19
Line 19 is: $magick_wand=NewMagickWand();
Alyssa, do you have the skillz to look at this? Anyone else wanna take a
stab at debugging? Personally it's over my head.

Hey everyone,
About a month ago, we had a Rent-a-coder make a gallery-maker tool. It's
written in PHP and uses the MagickWand PHP extension.
If you have the know-how to install the extension, or if you already have
it, would you mind testing out this tool and reporting back?
Our rent-a-coder is waiting for his cash.
Thanks!
